teak furnitures , Teak Hardwood Garden Furniture

Teak is known as the most durable and long lasting of all hardwoods used to make garden furniture. This is due to the high content of natural oils and rubber thats contained in teak wood. Before its made into furniture, each piece of teak is kiln dried to less than 12% moisture. After that they are shaped and produced into a well built furniture. The dry kiln process is used to prevent changes in any climatic conditions that may affect the furniture if it is moved to a different geographic area.

Teak garden furniture is manufactured using traditional dowelled mortise and tenon joinery complimented with solid brass fittings and fixings. Naturally rich in oleoresin, teak is highly resistant to warping and rotting and will last for many years without any special treatment. However, similar to other hardwood garden materials, teak can show hairline cracks, especially in end grains. These are quite natural and do not detract from the woods strength or durability.

The untreated teak timber is a very pleasant yellowy-brown olive colour when still fresh. The furniture is fine sanded so that it will have only the natural colour of the wood coupled with the raw natural texture of the teak grain. Indoor teak furnitures may change its color to a dark shade brown if it is placed away from sunlight over a period of time. Outdoor teak furniture, on the other hand, will bleach outthe timbers natural colour, turning it into a soft silvery grey colour because of exposure to sunlight. This silvery grey color, which develops over time, gives outdoor teak furniture a distinctive appearance. The silver grey colour resulting from this natural ageing process is considered to be very attractive, and allows the furniture to blend in well with many outdoor environments. Teak furniture left in this state is easily maintained, and needs no treatment to give many years of service.
