Home interior decorating is a perfect opportunity for you to express yourself. Home interior decorating allows you to showcase your interests; interests in furniture, art and even different cultures. Every decorating style is different, with some being elaborate while others are plain. However, there is a home interior decorating style to suit your personality as well as your budget.

Budget is usually at the top of the list when making plans for home interior decorating. It is easy to look at a picture and want to recreate it in your space. Sometimes the details in home decorating pictures are quite expensive which may introduce obstacles for you. There’s no need to be disheartened however, there are always alternate ideas to help you achieve your ideal space. Resources such as magazines, books, television programs and Internet websites are very helpful with suggestions and ideas for home interior decorating. Using these resources you’re bound to find alternatives to any problems you may have with home interior decorating.

If you are an individual who loves color and authentic home interior decorating, there are several designs to choose from. Primitive home interior decorating is interesting because it concentrates on old and handmade items. This is a wonderful opportunity to display collectables and handed down treasures. This style suggests using accessories and furniture which appear extremely old, worn, stained or antique. If you are a person who likes antiques, primitive interior decorating might be right for you. When choosing a paint color for this design, dark and warm shades are recommended. Deep grey or red brick would work well in this space.

Another home interior decorating design that you may find interesting is whimsical decorating. This design allows you to go wild with your imagination. Using any and all of your favorite colors, you space should be decorated thoroughly with various patterns and colors. This home interior decorating design is all about color. The important detail to remember however is, if you choose bold vibrant colors, stay within that hue of color. If you decide to use pastel colors, stick with colors in the pastel palette.

If you have difficulty moving from the past into modern home interior decorating, traditional design may be for you. This home interior decorating style combines the modern look with the elegant look of the past. Space is important in the traditional design. To help create a spacious atmosphere, neutral colors such as neutral, beige or mushroom is recommended for the walls. To add a punch of color to this traditional design, darker colors such as burgundy, mauve, blues and greens are suggested for the upholstery, fabric, rugs, etc. When choosing accessories for this home interior decorating design, china and crystal objects will compliment this style. You might also like to add some artwork to your space. Paintings with wood frames go great with this traditional theme.

There are just three of the many designs for home interior decorating. There are many and there is one, just for you. Browsing sources about home interior decorating designs will give you a better idea of their characteristics regarding color, furnishings, flooring and accessories. With your individual tastes and interests at the forefront, you ought to be able to find a style that works for you. Home interior decorating can turn your home into an oasis of pure enjoyment.

It is a formal style of garden with nine water features. The sound of water gives the garden a feeling of tranquility and peacefulness.

The kingdom specialized in making traditional ships and houses that were known throughout the land. At that time, the carving design was still traditional designs that were self created. In the 16th century, when Jepara is ruled by Queen Kalinyamat, much improvements were made to the design of the ships and houses. The designs were adopted after being influenced by design styles from China, India, Arab and Europe. It was since that era the revolution in Jepara wood carving design has been developing.

On the 19th century, the development of Jepara wood carving and furniture industry reached it’s climax and became famous in many countries all over the world after R.A Kartini, the daughter of Jepara Head Residence introduce the wood carving products from Jepara to the Queen Wilhelmina on her marriage. R.A. Kartini also introduce Jepara wood carving through Oost en West Organization that helped on the market place. Another way how R.A Kartini introduce the wood carving is by sending it to her friends in Holland.

On the 20th century when Soeharto become a President of Indonesia, Jepara Furniture Home Industry get a support from the President’s Wife to get the investor to expand their business and as a result, many foreign investor interested to expand their business to Jepara. Then the Europe design is dominate the production of Jepara Carving Furniture up to now.

The Forest Trust (TFT) (formerly the Tropical Forest Trust) is a UK registered charity[1] focused on making the trade of timber from sustainable forest management standard practice. TFT works with partners at all stages of the supply chain – from forest producers, to mills and factories, to retailers who sell tropical wood products (like garden furniture) at their stores. By promoting sustainable forestry, TFT seeks to give tropical forests value as fully functioning ecosystems, rather than as land cleared for alternative uses.

TFT has offices in the UK, France, Switzerland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Viet Nam, China, United States, Brazil, Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Gabon. The TFT is governed by a Board comprising representatives of its members and independent experts.

Process

TFT currently recognises the Forest Stewardship Council as the leading international forest certification scheme providing credible independent assurance that source forests are well managed. TFT helps its members to manage and monitor their supply chains and it helps the forests that anchor those supply chains to achieve FSC certification. TFT assists member companies to find out where their wood currently comes from. Having done so – or having identified the reasons why it is impossible to do so – the TFT helps its members to develop policies for where they want their wood to come from in the future. It then helps its members to identify ‘good wood’ sources: FSC certified forests that meet their product needs or, where these are lacking, Transition Wood Sources that are implementing or are ready to implement a strictly controlled Certification Action Plan with the TFT to achieve FSC certification.

Forests Now Declaration

The TFT has also endorsed the Forests Now Declaration, calling for new market based mechanisms to protect forests.

Issues

In North America and Europe demand for FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood has led to many millions of forest hectares achieving certification. However, there has been less rapid certification in developing countries. Tropical forest managers are often unsure of how to achieve certification and they face highly complex forest management contexts that make achieving certification difficult. Even securing wood from known legal sources is challenging in many tropical countries where enforcement systems are weak and illegal logging is common.

One of life’s simpler pleasures is lounging in one’s garden during a lazy Sunday or after a hard day’s work with a cup of tea or frosty beer in one’s hand. Breathing in the fresh, outdoor air and thinking about life and its many intricacies while stroking the family pet or your significant other’s hand can be the most relaxing part of anyone’s day.

Indeed, the backyard garden can be the perfect haven from the stress and bustle of the outside world. One cannot really relax and unwind in a garden however without the proper furniture. Standing around the backyard on your tired, overworked feet somehow doesn’t pass for a soothing, stress-relieving experience.

Garden furniture is of course, exposed to the elements- rain, sleet, storm and sun. When investing in chairs and tables for your backyard haven, you can’t just buy ones made of any material. Plastics are cheap of course, but not very durable as they discolor and even get warped during hotter summer climates.

Aluminum is the most common material used for outdoor furniture for gardens and patios. Inexpensive, durable and relatively maintenance-free, garden furniture made of aluminum is a cheap and practical investment. Homeowners looking for a more aesthetically-pleasing investment for your outdoor lounging needs however should consider getting teak garden furniture.

Teak wood comes from a tropical hardwood birch tree indigenous to the forests of Malaysia, India, the Philippines, Myanmar and Indonesia. The teak tree can grow to a height of 150 feet and lives up to a century. Teak trees can withstand extreme weather changes and can endure hurricane-type winds by bending instead of breaking. The heartwood in teak also contains a resin which is virtually water proof and this actually protects the tree from insects and even decay. This oily substance gives teak wood its natural glow and lets furniture made out of teak keep their natural beauty even after years of being left under the mercy of the elements.

Because there is a lengthy and special process of harvesting teak before it is cut down for manufacturing, furniture made out of teak is more expensive than those made of other materials. High quality teak is cut from 40 year old trees which are treated for two years before the actual harvest. The treatment involves making a gash around the base of the tree to drain it of water. This process dries the teak wood so it can be cut and processed for furniture manufacturing easily.

Teak garden furniture needs no extra treatment to keep its durability. The owner can just leave them out back without worrying about termites or weather damage. This durability of teak and its ability to withstand the elements has made it a favorite deck material for luxury cruise ships.

Because of worldwide demand for teak products, its lengthy harvesting period and a shortage of supply has made it quite rare. Furniture and other products made of teak have thus become a status symbol and even collector’s items and heirlooms which have been passed down through several generations.

Teak’s strength and natural beauty makes it the most stylish and at the same time practical choice for the Eden in your backyard. Teak garden furniture comes as folding chairs, tables, benches, sun loungers, Adirondacks and even umbrellas.

One of the main reasons why teak is the best choice for outdoor furniture is because it doesn’t get hot nor cold in extreme weather conditions like metal does. Have you ever tried to sit on a park bench during summertime and felt glad your butt and the back of your legs were resting on wood? Most likely that was Teak.

As summer comes and you are ready to enjoy the great outdoors, or at least your back porch, you may notice that your patio furniture is not as bright and attractive as it once was. The sun, wind, and dust that your patio furniture is exposed to on a daily basis do quite a number on its looks. If you are looking to learn how to clean patio furniture, here are some tips you should know.

Cleaning Resin or Plastic Patio Furniture

To clean resin or plastic patio furniture that is light in color, make a solution that includes 1-gallon of warm water, ¾-cup of bleach, and 1-tablespoon of laundry soap. If there is any coloring on the furniture, test a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure it will not damage the color. If the color brightens but does not become discolored, you can clean the entire piece.

Use the solution and a scrub brush with soft bristles to clean the entire piece. Then, leave the water solution on the furniture for around 15 minutes. Then rinse it thoroughly.

If the furniture is colored, use a solution made out of 1-gallon of warm water and 1-tablespoon of all-purpose cleaner. This eliminates the bleach, which can damage the coloration of the colored furniture. Again, after washing let the solution set on the furniture for around 10 to 15 minutes and rinse completely.

Unfinished Wood Patio Furniture

Unfinished wood furniture is really abused by the elements. One problem you face when cleaning unfinished wood is the fact that it tends to absorb excess water, which can cause it to warp or crack. To avoid this problem, make a solution out of a gallon of water, 1 cup of ammonia, and ½ cup of vinegar. Scrub down your wood furniture with this solution, and then rinse it completely. After rinsing, use towels to take up any excess water.

Cleaning Patio Furniture Cushions

The cushions on your patio furniture are probably one of the most likely items to need a good cleaning. Most patio furniture pillows and cushions are washable, but check the label before you attempt washing them. If they are, wash them with soapy water and a sponge. Make sure that you rinse them well and wipe them as dry as you can.

Cleaning a Patio Umbrella

Patio umbrellas often grow mold. This happens because they get wet and then sit closed in the warm weather, making a moist, warm environment for mold to grow in. Not only is mold unsightly, but it is also a health hazard, so you need to deal with it.

To clean the mold off of a patio umbrella, make a solution with 1-gallon warm water, a squirt of liquid dish detergent, and ¾-cup of bleach. Test the color first on the inside of the umbrella. If it reacts well to the bleach, open the umbrella, don some rubber gloves, and scrub the umbrella using the solution and a brush with soft bristles. As soon as you are done, rinse the umbrella. If you find that the solution fades the colors on the umbrella, look on the tag to see what cleaning agents you can use. Always let the umbrella dry completely before you close it, as this can cause new mold to develop.

Aluminum Patio Furniture

To clean aluminum furniture, scrub the piece down with a plastic scrubber or steel wool using dish detergent. Put in plenty of elbow grease to make sure you get it good and clean. Rinse the furniture completely to remove all of the soap.

If the furniture is baked on aluminum, use a sponge instead of the plastic scrubber. Soak it with the dishwashing detergent. Work the sponge and the cleaner into the outdoor furniture and rinse. Dry it using a cloth and then finish with some car wax. Make sure the car wax does not get on the fabric or webbing on the piece of furniture. This will preserve the finish the furniture.

Teak wood has always been popular because of its durability – it’s so durable, in fact, that it is used for shipbuilding. It has an impenetrable fine grain that is reinforced by natural teak oils that ward off rots and insects, and withstand the effects of weathering.
You can never go wrong with teak garden furniture, because it is classic, inherently elegant, and most importantly, can last for decades and decades. Many teak garden furniture designs are available for virtually any need.
Teak furniture is generally low-maintenance, but there are some simple things you can do to make sure they last a lifetime still looking fresh. Apply a thin coat of teak oil (easily available from furniture shops or handyman outlets) on the surface of your teak furniture after you clean it. Do this at least once a month, or whenever the weather is especially dry or humid.
How to Choose Your Garden Furniture

Choosing garden furniture is like choosing living room furniture and /or dining room furniture for your home.

Usually, after the landscaping of your garden or lawn area, you will want to make some home improvements which involve placing garden furniture’s on them. With garden furniture’s displayed on your garden, it will compliment the atmosphere and also decoration of the garden or lawn setting of your home. The problem is, there are various different kinds of garden furniture’s that you can choose that each has an appeal of their own. The present garden furniture offers different level of comfort, durability, fashion and style. But most importantly, you certainly want to match the garden furniture with the decor of your garden or lawn.

Choosing garden furniture is like choosing living room furniture and /or dining room furniture for your home. Your proposed use of this area will directly impact the decision of the garden furniture you choose. There are different purposes you must think about in furnishing your living room, for example, it can be furnished for reading and relaxing or it can be furnished for hosting guests. For outdoor purpose, you may want to place garden furniture for a formal dining area or for large family cook outs. You have to make sure that you and all of your guests are comfortable without overcrowding your garden or patio area.

 Another point to consider is the comfort of yourself and your guest when choosing your garden furniture. Cushioned chairs, love seats, sofas, bench seats, swivel or slide rocking chairs, and loungers are just a few of the choices you will have to pick from. Garden furniture also has sofas, love seats, settees, and bench seats, with and without backs, to choose from. Putting a small table is also a good idea, where it can function as a place to put food, drinks or small items on top of it. Garden furniture comes in a wide variety of colors, so you should make sure to choose the perfect color that will bring the perfect splash to your garden or lawn.

Patios are a great way to enjoy the summer; you can have dinners outside, relax by the pool, or get some gardening done. But when it’s too cold to swim, and the plants all begin to frost on those chilly autumn nights, how can you still get the most out your outdoor patio? Crank up the heat on some patio add-ons that are red hot.

Saunas
If you’ve got the room and the budget, get an authentic Finnish sauna for your outdoor patio. These traditional dry or wet stone hothouses come in a variety of sizes and designs, and are usually made from gorgeous hardwoods, like cedar. You can enjoy saunas year round, and the practice is actually good for your health. Sweating is considered a kind of detox, while the heat opens up blood vessels to increase circulation, while speeding up metabolism.

Hot Tubs
Similar to the idea of saunas are hot tubs. These are a common fixture on many an outdoor patio, and it’s not hard to see why. They are compact enough to fit on most standard sized decks, provide the ultimate in luxury and relaxation, and are much more affordable than most people think.

Many of the fancier models of hot tub include features like heated towel cubbies. Hot tubs also have proven health benefits, in small doses that is. Limited exposure to hot tubs results in hydrotherapy, a practice that predates the invention of hot tubs and goes back to ancient cultures and hot springs.

Patio Heaters
If you’re not much for peeling away the layers when you go outside, opt instead for a patio heater. These units are great for evening mixers when the nights have turned chilly, and they’re a lifesaver to all of your smoker friends. Patio heaters are typically freestanding, though there are some installable units available. These metal units often operate on propane and contain enough safety shutoff features that they’re good around kids or forgetful people.

Fire Pits
If you love the experience of camping but can’t do the open flame, a fire pit is the next best thing for your outdoor patio. Fire pits and outdoor fireplace are usually made from metal and stone, respectively and offer warm, natural heat in a compact and safely contained unit. They are perfect for congregating around, or roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. You can even use an outdoor fireplace to cook and entire meal al fresco.

Lanterns
Though the right ambient lighting might be more psychologically than actually warming, it’s still an important fixture nonetheless to the outdoor patio. Lighting is available in all different varieties, from electrical units that can be installed directly into your deck or backyard, to more mobile varieties of lights. String lighting is romantic, doesn’t use much electricity, and is tempered for outdoor use, while metal lanterns use the ambient glow of candles to provide the right mood lighting.

Just because the weather starts to turn doesn’t mean it’s time to hibernate. Your outdoor patio is a part of your home, so get the most from it. There’s many ways to enjoy a cool night while keeping nice and toasty.

Buying teak garden furniture may be a familiar practice to some people but the vast majority are not fully aware of the many benefits of buying products made from teak. Teak is a form of hardwood that is found in countries like Thailand or Malaysia, and what makes Teak such a preferred wood for outdoor use is the fact that it is incredibly strong and durable. For many decades carpenters and craftsmen have praised the great benefits of using teak, thanks to it being naturally waterproof and one of the few woods that does not create rust when it is joined to metal. Because of this, people with green fingers consider a teak garden bench to be the most sought after type.

Teak can be used to make indoor furniture as well as a variety of other purposes e.g. the sailing/marine sector, but it is with outdoor furniture where the benefits of teak truly shine. Most people know how quickly even the most expensive garden furniture can rot and break. Because of this, people intentionally look towards the lower-priced ranges, choosing to replace their garden furnishings every year with inexpensive items rather than spending more money on something that will not break and rot so easily. This problem is easily solved; a teak garden bench can easily withstand the elements, lasting decades, due to its waterproof and durable properties. Teak naturally turns into a mellow grey colour as it ages. Most people who own teak furniture encourage this colour change because it is part of the complex beauty that makes teak so appealing. Others prefer to keep the woods original structural integrity intact, however, and this is accomplished with minimal fuss by applying teak oil once a year. Either way, the beauty of the wood and craftsmanship will shine through no matter what you choose to do with the furniture.

A teak garden bench can be quite expensive, so prepare to pay hundreds of pounds if you want to add one to your garden. Keep in mind, though, that your investment is actually a wise one in the long term. Since nearly all garden benches have a short lifespan, a purchase of a teak garden bench can pay for itself within a few years. All the same, it is up to the individual whether or not teak is part of the overall plan for the garden.

Teak is the wood of choice for many individuals and manufacturers because of its’ high natural oil content that makes it resistant to weather, water, sun and other outdoor elements that can rot and destroy other wood species. Teak is a close grain hardwood that also resists warping and insects and due to its durability, it has been used in boat manufacturing for hundreds of years. Take the above factors and add the fact that it is also a beautiful wood that requires little or no maintenance it is easy to see why it is a top choice. Caring for teak patio furniture can range from doing nothing and allowing the sun to age the wood naturally to a silver gray color to treating and sealing the wood every 6 to 12 months depending on the environmental conditions where you live. This article takes you through the steps of cleaning and treating teak to maintain its golden brown color. Keep in mind however that even treated teak will turn silver gray from the suns UV rays after treating and sealing unless it is done on a regular basis.

There are a number of products available today that contain pigments, ultraviolet light blockers or absorbers, mildewcide, and moisture protection to seal and protect in one step. I recommend a visit to a local marine store as teak is used on boats and they can be an excellent source of information on teak sealers. As mentioned above, teak is a beautiful wood and with proper care can look great for years.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

* Teak sealer

* Scotch Brite Pad or brass wool

* Teak clear coat

* Liquid Ivory soap or another mild neutral ph detergent

* Sponge

* Soft bristle brush

* Soft cloths

* Nylon, polyester or foam paint brush

* 320 grit sandpaper

* Drop cloth to protect area under furniture during cleaning and sealing

* If the mildew stains are persistent, a mixture of chlorine bleach or ammonia in weak solutions with water or mildew products such as Tilex or X-14.

* NEVER MIX BLEACH AND AMMONIA TOGETHER.

Step 1

If you are sealing new teak I recommend allowing it to sit in the sun for about a week to open up the wood grain. At this point a cleaning with a mild detergent and sponge should be all that is needed prior to applying the teak sealant. Allow the wood to dry completely, usually overnight.

Step 2

Thos. Baker Taverna Dinning Set

Thos. Baker Taverna Dinning Set

Brush on the teak sealer with a paint brush or spray on. Rub the sealant in with a soft cloth. Be sure to coat all areas of the furniture including the top, bottom, sides and between all slats. Allow the first coat to dry completely before putting on a second coat. Areas such as table tops that are susceptible to stains from foods, drinks or other items that can penetrate the sealer should be sealed with a teak clear coat. Keep in mind that teak has natural oils that come to the surface that will cause varnish, polyurethane and water sealers to bubble, chip and peel. Therefore, always use a “teak” clear coat.

Step 3

If your teak patio furniture has already started to turn silver-gray and you want to return it to its original golden brown or honey color, you will first have to clean the wood prior to applying the teak sealant. Begin by cleaning the wood as in step one above. If mildew is present try to clean with a soft bristle brush and liquid Ivory soap. If the mildew stains are persistent, a mixture of chlorine bleach or ammonia in weak solutions with water or mildew products such as Tilex or X-14 can be used. Whenever using bleach or ammonia to clean the wood always rinse quickly with plenty of water to avoid the wood turning white. NEVER MIX BLEACH AND AMMONIA TOGETHER. There are also two part teak cleaners available that use a caustic soda and an acid to produce excellent results.

Step 4

After cleaning, allow the wood to dry completely. Lightly sand the surface of the wood with 320 grit sandpaper. Remember to always sand in the direction of the wood grain. Use a clean dry cloth to clean any sanding dust. The wood is now ready to re-seal. Follow Step Two above and you are ready to enjoy your furniture again.

When it comes to outside deck furniture, teak cannot be beat as far as superior quality and beauty. Teak deep seating, along with chairs, dining sets, etc. are a worthwhile investment. For those unfamiliar, teak is one of the most durable hardwoods from southeast Asia that’s naturally resistant to rotting, cracking, warping and infestation due largely in part to the natural resins it produces.

Teak deep seating is like most outdoor furniture, with the unique characteristic of having low, wide seats complemented by waterproof and tear-resistant cushions. It is more comfortable than sitting on straight wood, especially for individuals with lower back problems. In addition, teak deep seating makes the outdoor experience more enjoyable overall because of how it mirrors comfortable indoor furniture.

Teak benches are one of the most common uses of the hardwood, right after its prominence on boat decks. Because of how strong these benches are and the small amount of maintenance they require, they are great for commercial use. Also, they come in endless designs and lengths, including styles like the Columbia, the Tahawus and the Courting Bench. You can see these benches in public parks, outside businesses, out on the street, and many more places.

Teak tables and dining sets are assets for outdoor dining and entertaining. Plus, they looksfantastic and will not fall apart over time. Sets include a main dining table, (round, square or rectangular in shape), which may or may not come with a central hole fixture for a manual or auto tilt patio umbrella to fit into. There are then matching chairs, whose number corresponds to the size of the table. Chairs come in a variety of styles, from armless, to backless, to teak deep seating.

Teak is about as commonly seen in patio umbrella poles and ribbing as is aluminum and other metals. Smaller, tableside umbrellas for residential use are often made of the lightweight metal, but larger umbrellas, including market umbrellas use teak for its resistance to weather damage. They’re also good as beach umbrellas. Metal, even when coated, tends to rust over time, especially when exposed to saltwater. Teak was used for centuries on boats not only because of its ability to resist damage, but also its amazing ability to help protect the metal that surrounds it against rusting from saltwater.

As one type of seating, teak sun loungers are popular. Once again, teak is a strong material, but also it is usually also better crafted than plastic models and will not grow hot in the sun like metal loungers tend to do. Typically, they are long enough to full recline, with a moveable back for preferred angle settings. Because the wood is so durable, teak is also an extremely heavy wood, whose logs fail to float in water like other types of wood. In light of this, teak loungers usually come with wheels for easy mobility.

Another type of chair is the classic Adirondack design, also known as the Muskoka. These models are ergonomically designed with contoured seat bottoms, high backs and signature wide arm rests. These chairs are popular for commercial use at outdoor cafes specifically because of these wide arm rests, upon which beverages and more can be rested. They even eliminate the need for a table in some cases
